It was with great sadness that, in October 2014, we had to announce the death of Alan. He will always be remembered with affection
by members of the society.
At our final rehearsal before the Summer break, 2013, after an hour’s singing, we had an ‘end of term’ party!
We especially wanted to recognise and celebrate the long service and dedication our chairman, Alan Ratcliffe, has given to Broom Leys Choral Society. He is one of only a few of our current members to have 40 years continuous membership, and for many years he has also been Society Chairman. To anyone who knows Alan, his love for, and commitment to, Broom Leys Choral Society is very evident.
Unfortunately, Alan was unable to be with us, but there was a special 40 years celebration cake in his honour which was taken to him on the following day. Anthony Wilson, the society accompanist, who has worked with, and been a personal friend of, Alan over many years gave a well received address.
Everyone in Broom Leys Choral Society sends their very fond wishes to Alan for the future, and hopes that he will be able sing with us for many years to come!
Below are a few photographs of the occasion.
At the AGM on 17 January 2017, our long serving accompanist, Anthony Wilson, was awarded an ‘Honorary Life Membership’ certificate.
The picture shows Anthony holding the framed certificate which was presented by society Chairman, Rod Oliver.
Congratulations Anthony - and many thanks for your long and dedicated service to Broom Leys Choral Society.
