Our Summer Concert 2006, SINGIN' 'N' SWINGIN' was held in St. David's Church, Broom Leys, Coalville when we were joined

by "Just Jazz" jazz group and soloist Alexandra Gamble.

The church was full to capacity for a great evening of music performed by the choir, ranging from Kern, Miller, Gershwin and Shearing. classics to 'Feel The Spirit' by John Rutter, with Alexandra Gamble as soloist.

'Just Jazz' played a range of jazz numbers which had everyone's feet tapping and, had there been room, probably dancing in the aisles!

The first photo, below, shows the choir, with musical director Brian Humpherson (centre) and Alexandra Gamble (left). Accompanist Andrew Goff is on the right of the picture. The second photo shows members of 'Just Jazz'.

Our first concert of 2006 was "A MOZART CELEBRATION” mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart.

The Society sang the Ave Verum and the Requiem Mass, and were joined, for this concert, by soloists Caroline Palmer (Soprano), Kathryn Cook (Contralto), David Knight (Tenor) and Andrew Ashwin (Bass) and by Glenn Smith (Accompanist) and a large orchestra. The concert was performed at Holy Cross Church, Whitwick on 1st April, and was well supported by a large and enthusiastic audience.

The pictures below were taken at our Autumn Concert given at Christ Church, Coalville, on 19th November 2005. This concert included 'The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace' by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, and the 'Cantique de Jean Racine' and the 'Requiem Mass' by Gabriel Fauré, plus solos from our guest soloists.

The first picture shows BLCS Musical Director, Brian Humpherson, soloists Robert Clarke and Caroline Palmer, and Deputy Chairman of NWLDC, David Whetton.
